Have only been to a very few in my life but the one in particular that I went to about 5 years ago really shook the gound I stood on.

I was animated and singing at the top of my lungs( which I usually don't do as I can't carry a tune). The ministers were possessed of the spirit and God was speaking through them. No there wasn't no pre thought out sermons that night. It was straight from God.

Others in the audience were also caught up in the worship like none other that I have ever experienced before. Many people came up to the front and were saved that night.Tears and cries of joy can be heard throught out the service and worship.

One of the ministers that night giving a testimonial was a layman. No degrees and no theology at all but he was speaking words direct from God. His words spoke as if he was an ordained minister but all he had was a gift.

Oh how I yearn for a revival like that again.photogrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05149737419546300220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2257114463060999037.post-2512617036326008292009-05-27T06:24:11.102-04:002009-05-27T06:24:11.102-04:00David, I really enjoyed reading this blog. You tou...David, I really enjoyed reading this blog. You touched on some key principles. I like your point about thermometers having degrees. I agree that everybody can play. I do have a thought, though. It does seem like when I became a Christian in the early 1970s (I'm old :) that this was true as well and many jumped right in to be used by God. The difference I see today, however, is a a real lack of dedication to studying the Scriptures. It seemed okay to have a pastor who was uneducated as long as he was in God's word and spending quality time with God. It seemed like I used to hear "While I was in God's word this week, God showed me..." I rarely hear this any more. I think an education in theology or Biblical studies does help a pastor know how to dig into God's Word. Without it I feel like many are just repeating what the last guy said. Back in the day before the Internet, a pastor had to really study and be prepared to teach his flock. I know there are many who still do spend hours in God's Word. In some ways I am facing this same trend in education. I am given some scripted materials to use with my students. I still spend a lot of time preparing my own original lessons because that is where my heart is, but I could easily just take all the pre-designed stuff and call myself a teacher. This is not a judgment but rather an observation.

I love this....
"but it all comes down to, be loving, listening for God's leading, be willing to mess up and be accountable, and getting out there and doing it.Karenhttp://www.restorationfellowshiponline.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2257114463060999037.post-26221697107006007272009-05-26T23:28:42.896-04:002009-05-26T23:28:42.896-04:00David:

I had read of the growing Christian movement in South America as one of the fastest growing in the world which tended to favor evangelism as you had described.

Amazing isn't it when you do not put restrictions on the Holy Spirit.

I feel like going to an old time Southern Baptist Revival now.photogrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05149737419546300220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2257114463060999037.post-27984322944485279902009-05-26T20:30:59.199-04:002009-05-26T20:30:59.199-04:00Ah men EagleGirlAh men EagleGirlphotogrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05149737419546300220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2257114463060999037.post-56263366266502131562009-05-26T02:13:39.292-04:002009-05-26T02:13:39.292-04:00Hey photgr, you keep beating me in posting comment...Hey photgr, you keep beating me in posting comments ! lol
David, great to hear about these things you have experienced first hand.
As you know though, even though current day Vineyards often do the teaching, some are not as open to the Holy Spirit moving in their celebrations (services).
We all three know about what happened recently in Cincinnati and where we all posted our own comments.
I love the Vineyard, one has been my home for the past 9 years.
But I am saddened by what I see as becoming too 'seeker friendly' and following the church models that the mega churches send forth.
And while those models may sound good, they need to be carefully examined to see if they are God's church model as in His Word.
And I think there should be caution in using so much of these church's material in so many forms, such as video conferences and such and not carefully examining the leadership of those churches.
As you, I long for a place where I can just be me- and to do His work.eaglegirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16796480659339896271noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2257114463060999037.post-88522652337110005512009-05-24T18:47:15.186-04:002009-05-24T18:47:15.186-04:00Ah men David!Ah men David!photogrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05149737419546300220noreply@blogger.com
