There were some good principles in those books.

I use them today in my wanderings through the desert seeking out others wanting to hear about salvation.

As far as College students, there is a great need in letting them know more about an alternate theology over what most humanist inspired professors are forcing down their students throats now.

As far as churches go,( and I sadly admit I am negative to many)if they are not encouraging it's members to participate and seeking out ones that are gifted to help all grow in service to GOD, the church is failing their intended purpose by God.

Spiritual Gifts is another area that seems to be ignored by many churches in my wanderings. I simply cannot understand why they fail to adhere to Paul's words on the gifts. Some even say" we don't want any Charismatics in our church" or "we don' subscribe the the Charismatic movement".photogrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05149737419546300220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2257114463060999037.post-84931204860506094162011-06-27T10:42:05.826-04:002011-06-27T10:42:05.826-04:00Andrea - there are lots of definitions of mentorin...Andrea - there are lots of definitions of mentoring. It is really discipleship. I has already noted that we don't clone people... I get what you mean.We need to be an example of following Jesus.

In our church mentoring it training, providing accountability and being an example of Christ.David-FireAndGracehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13540931140500045826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2257114463060999037.post-16400764059113290292011-06-27T09:51:31.743-04:002011-06-27T09:51:31.743-04:00I just realized that my rant on sacrifice was a pe...I just realized that my rant on sacrifice was a perfect lead-in to the Kingdom Bloggers theme for the week. Check it out. It should be 'follow my example as I follow Christ' and too often it's not.

Case in point, I've just finished a year of teaching Sunday School. With leadership's blessing, I taught in a way that was different than other teachers. By that I mean, I expected the kids to memorize scripture and offered rewards (run the race to receive the prize), I sacrificed an entire year to teach EVERY Sunday, which meant I had to attend the 2nd service. Heaven forbid that anybody else devote their entire Sunday morning to being at church. I did other things too.

Over and over again I was affirmed and the Children's pastor wanted others to be in my classroom to model me. WRONG. Develop a church culture so that the principles are established NOT my method.

I could go on and on about this and I'm sure it will eventually become a blog post.

One more thing, another obstacle is sacrifice. Sacrifice is supposed to hurt a little and if it doesn't, it's probably not sacrifice. Most churches are too worried about creating a culture of sacrifice for fear of losing people to other churches that don't expect anything from their congregants. We live in a world-culture where sacrifice is not a value and we are all suffering because of it.Andrea Yorkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17731698199965258229noreply@blogger.com
