5 1/2 Things I Prayed for and Didn't Get..

Here are some things I prayed for and didn't get - now I know who is smarter. God! Most folks pray, but I decided to sit down and look back at some of the tough spots I was in where I prayed for God to fix it. -1  Car Repairs: In 2000 I had the only accident I have ever had while I was behind the wheel. I also had the only uninsured (collision) car I have ever owned. I asked the Lord for money to get it fixed. The next day I came to work with my headlights dangling, and on my keyboard was a title to a 1998 Honda signed over to me! -2 My Mother's Healing: In 2001 I prayed for my mother to be healed of cancer. I went out to visit her not long after she wad diagnosed, and the Lord said that he wasn't going to heal her. Instead I learned to deal with loss, I learned how important phone calls are, and my view of the eternal changed. HERE is more of the story. -3 Ministry: In 1998 I asked God to grow my ministry which was flourishing ...

The World Could be Flat, How Do We Know It's Not?

Who really knows what Christopher Columbus was actually thinking back in 1492. When I read about him lobbying the Kings and Queens of Portugal, England and Spain; wheeling and dealing, it makes me think of the moive, The Pirates of Silicon Valley, which is a story about Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. Chris was looking for investors, negotiating for power of undiscovered lands, and looking for titles and prestige. Good ole' Columbus has been called a lot of things over the centuries. Ultimatley, it tuns out, his math was not too good, his science was not sound, his procalimed religion of Christianity did not match the tyrant ruler he later became. He did manage to get a holiday named after him... just think, maybe David Johndrow Day - probably would fall on April 1st or Februay 29th. Who knows how one's destiny will turn out? I was reading The Church of No People a while back and musing over Matt's career choice dilema. As always, it made me think about my path through li...

Everybody Thinks They Are Right

Have you ever noticed how; at least the more serious Christians, think they are always right? It seems everyone has an idea about Christianity. I have to tell you, it really makes me mad. Why? Because so many men and woman have put an effort into understanding God and His ways and this is as good as it gets. Scholars have tried to comprehend the ancient texts, and every Christian saved or unsaved (yeah some call themselves Christians) has struggled with the Bible. In my estimation, a lot of folks believe the Christian message on hearsay. They read a book about Jesus, listen to a radio program, watch a televangelist, or hear it from the pulpit. They never get face-to-face with the Bible. I have not met a Christian in years that has read the Bible from cover to cover. I’m just sayin’. Of those that really read the Word and try to understand it, many come at it from an intellectual angle. Everything has to line up, make sense, be proven, and fit their brand of logic. And the difficult...

What the Hell Is Going On?

Have you sat down and thought about your life for a few minutes recently? Have you looked at the church, your friends, your folks, your job, or your waistline and thought damn? If you are like me, you do a life evaluation every so often... and as you get older they get closer together. I remember thinking at 20, that half my life was over. Some people are content to go about their business until a crisis happens... maybe not 9/11, but that is a good example. An event like that changes the way that we live our lives. Do you ever find yourself looking back with sadness or pain? I am not saying that every one does, but how will you feel after the honeymoon is over, the vacation ends, or you don't get promoted? Maybe you've sat down with yourself, or with a significant other, and made a plan and it's working. You are on your way to happiness or some sort. Hmmm... Sure, most of us have some things back there that we are not proud of. I am not talking about those moments that com...
