The School of the Pastor

This weekend we ran another segment of the 5-Fold School of Ministry. This time we focused on pastoring. Stephen and Dalene Russell, here in the US as missionaries from South Africa, did an amazing job. Stephen's main scripture was the 23 Psalm, and for 3 sessions he broke it down to the elements of true shepherding. Here is the outline. I believe that you'll find some of the Americanized pastoral roles missing. Personally, I find that refreshing.. SERVING – PS. 23:1 THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD HEALING – PS.23:2 I SHALL NOT WANT EQUIPPING – PS.23:2 HE MAKES ME TO LIE DOWN IN GREEN PASTURE PREPARING – PS.23:2 HE LEADS ME BESIDE THE STILL WATER HELPING – PS.23:3 HE RESTORES MY SOUL ENTERING – PS.23:2 HE LEADS ME BESIDES THE PATHS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS FOR HIS NAME SAKE REASSURING – PS. 23:4 YEA THOUGH I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH I WILL FEAR NO EVIL FOR YOU ARE WITH ME DIRECTING – PS.23:4 YOUR ROD AND YOUR STAFF, THEY COMFORT ME IMPR...

5-Fold School of Ministry

This past weekend was the first of a 2 part 5-Fold School of Ministry. I was a great time in which we covered the the role of the pastor and prophet as equippers in the church. Pastor Stephen Russell laid out the principals of 5-fold pastoring which included the attributes of protection and  nurturing a local flock. He also talked about confronting unbecoming behavior in the church. I loved his passion for his place in the Kingdom. In addition the team covered the following: - Caring for the Sheep - Deliverance - Healing - Wholeness - Feeding the Sheep My brother, Lee Johndrow spoke for the part of the class on the prophet. He did an excellent job talking about accuracy, faith, and the trials of those that occupy this role in the church. I addition we covered: - What is Prophecy - The Prophet - The Gift of Prophecy (charisma) - The Role of a Prophet (doma) - Receiving/Judging Prophecy - How to Prophesy ...

The Monday After

Well it's Monday, and I had a pretty amazing weekend. I went out to a very nice breakfast with my wife and little one on Saturday. I had a chance to hang out with a friend while we worked on my PC later in the day. It is all set up for recording now. And I recorded a new song! Sunday I went to church and enjoyed the message and the ministry. Each week we seem to make some real progress in terms of using our gifts. We had a few folks really turn their lives around in the past few weeks! My biggest concern is about those that are just getting their life in order and need spiritual parents. Friday was the last class at the 5-Fold School of Ministry and we had almost 30 plus those watching online. I really enjoyed teaching about the apostle, because it is such an important function in the church. I had a lot of challenging questions, yet I felt comfortable with my answers. Here is one of them: What would you call a person that only designs ministries based...

Class 1 - Postmortem

Class 1 of the  Apostolic School is complete. I received an email from my pastor. David, You did an exceptional job last night.  I mean REALLLLLLLLY exceptional. Love you, Daryl I certainly appreciate my pastor very much. He is becoming a close friend. Most of all, it is nice to be loved, even if when I don't do anything; he's good at that. I say "thank you Jesus for what you do." I knew going into this I had nothing to offer without God's intervention. So what happened? I talked about my passion for Jesus, for helping others find their spiritual gifts, and I taught them to pray for one another.  The Doctrine of the Laying on of Hands is very simple. I stumbled across one of my favorite verses and went for a quick sermon on the releasing the new man. HERE are the details. We had folks put down their prayer needs on paper, and picked 3 of them to receive the laying on of hands. I am looking forward to the testimonies next week. ...
